Dr. Jim McCracken MBE is the
last remaining son of parents who were both born
in the 1890s. Having retired from academic medicine
in general practice, and when not fly-fishing,
he has devoted the past three years to researching
his family history.
This is a book in three parts. Each chapter
can be read as a short story. Those have
been woven
into a historical narrative which combines
personal reminiscences with the author’s fascinating
search not simply of his family’s tree
but of its history, extending back to the late
1600s. Each generation has been reviewed in the
historical context of the time.
