Ron Hooton was born in the little village of Partney
in Lincolnshire in 1919. Ron has lived in his favourite
county all his life. His school years were at East
Kirkby. Like all of his age he left school at the
age of fourteen, in fact Ron was ploughing with
a team of shire horses on his fourteenth birthday!
He grew up working on his Father’s farm
and spent most of his life up to the age of 40
on farms.
During the war he spent three years as an H.G.V
driver. Eventually he managed a farm for ten years,
during the years Ron gained many skills; qualified
as an electrician, plumber, welder and also was
a licenced slaughter man and did butchery.
At the age of 39 he changed from farming and became
a blacksmith of renown! Built up an engineering
business of international renown, sold the business
and retired in 1987.
Now his main interests are, his family; his golf;
his friends and writing.
Ron’s qualifications - Three R’s
Autodidact Extraordinaire.
I understand from Ron that through pressure from
family and friends he has agreed to publish this
first book of poems.
